What is fraternity hazing?

Fraternity hazing is the practice of harmful rituals or other activities in order to initiate a person into a group. It involves abuse, harassment, and humiliation such as physical injury, assault or battery, kidnapping or imprisonment, sleep deprivation, intentional mental or emotional harm, degradation, humiliation, compromising of moral or religious values, forced consumption of any alcohol or drugs, abandonment, and impairment of physical liberties and more. Fraternity hazing can endanger a person’s mental and physical health, their safety, and interfere with academics.
